Workshop: Researching Foreign Language Teaching in Primary Schools

  • Registration deadline: November 11th 2013 (Maximum 50 places)
  • Cost: £45 or FREE for members of the Association for Language Learning or British Association of Applied Linguistics. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Paying delegates will automatically be given membership to one of these Associations of their choice.                                                                                                                                      

This one day interactive workshop will provide a valuable opportunity for collaboration between researchers and practitioners with an interest in carrying out research into primary school foreign language learning and teaching.

THEMES:

ICT in the primary foreign language classroom

Researcher: Dr Zoe Handley (University of York)

Motivation, attitudes and identity

Researcher: Dr Florentina Taylor (University of York)

Progression in grammar and vocabulary     

Researchers: Dr Emma Marsden & Rowena Hanan (University of York)

Teaching foreign language literacy

Researchers: Professor Rosamond Mitchell & Alison Porter (University of Southampton)

Transition from primary to secondary school

Researcher: Professor Suzanne Graham (University of Reading)

Other areas (e.g. inter-cultural understanding, cross-curricular links, CLIL) can also be specified, but would be addressed under one of the themes above.
